Tailoring Program: Empowering Refugees and Host Communities Through Vocational Skills
Mirror Group Network’s Tailoring Program
The Mirror Group Network’s Tailoring Program is a transformative initiative designed to equip refugees and vulnerable host community members in Uganda with practical, income-generating skills. By offering hands-on training in tailoring, the program fosters economic independence, social integration, and long-term resilience.
Program Objectives
Vocational Training for Self-Reliance: Participants learn essential tailoring techniques to produce clothing and household items, enabling them to start micro-enterprises or secure employment.
Economic Empowerment: Graduates gain the tools to generate sustainable income, reduce dependency, and support their families.
Community Integration: The program bridges cultural divides by bringing together refugees and host communities in a shared learning environment.
Women & Youth Focus: Special emphasis is placed on empowering women and youth—groups most affected by displacement and poverty.
Why Tailoring Matters
In displacement-affected regions, access to vocational training is limited. Tailoring offers a scalable, low-barrier pathway to financial stability and dignity. It also promotes creativity, entrepreneurship, and community resilience.
