BACKGROUND
MIRROR GROUP NETWORK is a refugee women and youth-led organization from different countries and host communities (Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, and Uganda) that joined their hands to build youth capacity.
It started in 2013 due to the loss of value, confidence, and hope whereby youth were addicted to drugs, alcohol, and prostitution.
The MIRROR GROUP NETWORK is inspired by Christian values where members find hope in cultural dances, arts and crafts, and entrepreneurship skills and promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities.
Provide life skills and counseling to youth and advocate for their education and welfare. It aims to promote the members’ well-being and Refugee and host community youth are the target of its operations.
VISION:
To restore hope, promote and empower youth and women to become self-sustainable.
MISSION:
To empower extremely deplorable living conditions within refugees and host communities to improve their lives.
Spiritual and Emotional Well-being:
Prioritize the well-being of youth through Biblical Bible Storytelling sessions and Devotion. This objective aims to provide spiritual guidance, foster hope, and create community among members. Stakeholder Engagement and Involvement:
Promoting Cultural Heritage and Identity:
The organization can focus on preserving and celebrating cultural dances, arts, and crafts. This objective aligns with their inspiration from Christian values and commitment to peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities.
Youth Empowerment through Entrepreneurship:
Encourage entrepreneurship skills development (such as arts and crafts, handbag making, shoe making, and tailoring) among youth. This objective contributes to self-sustainability and economic empowerment.
Advocacy for Quality Education:
Advocate for improved access to education for both refugee and host community youth. This includes ensuring quality education, addressing barriers, and promoting lifelong learning.
Legal Advocacy and Rights Awareness:
Continue legal advocacy efforts, raising awareness about legal rights, and providing support to youth navigating legal processes. This objective contributes to justice and protection.
Promoting Mental Health and Well-being:
Strengthen individual and group counseling services. Prioritize mental health support, resilience-building, and emotional well-being for youth facing challenging circumstances.
Livelihood Enhancement and Financial Literacy:
Expand livelihood programs, including savings and loan initiatives. Empower youth and women with financial literacy skills to improve their economic prospects.
Childcare and Family Support:
Develop and enhance daycare services for young children. Support families by providing a safe and nurturing environment for children while parents participate in other activities
