Art in Action: Mirror Group Network Returns with Culture, Craft & Creativity at Kampala City Festival
Following the unforgettable “Drums of Unity” performance that welcomed the Right Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, Mirror Group Network returned to the Kampala City Festival with another bold statement this time

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Kampala’s buzzing streets, the team’s second appearance at the festival brought together visual art, handmade crafts, cultural exhibitions, and live performances all created and presented by youth from both refugee and host communities.
“When we express ourselves through art, we tell stories that words can’t,” said one of the young artisans at the booth.”
This wasn’t just an exhibition; it was a celebration of identity and resilience. From woven baskets and beaded jewelry to canvas paintings and spoken word poetry, every piece on display spoke to the strength, creativity, and dreams of communities often left unheard.
Entertainment Meets Empowerment
The performances weren’t just for applause they carried messages of peace, inclusion, and unity. The stage became a platform for cultural exchange, and the crowd responded with energy and curiosity. People stopped to ask questions, purchase crafts, and engage with the young creators.
This dynamic participation reflected Mirror Group Network’s continued mission: to empower youth and promote peaceful coexistence through art, education, and psychosocial support.
A Space Where Culture Builds Bridges
Just as drums echoed at Kololo Grounds in the presence of the Prime Minister, this second showing echoed something just as powerful: a vision for Uganda where culture, craft, and creativity pave the way for dialogue and shared futures.
For the Mirror Group Network team, this was more than a return visit it was a deeper integration into the cultural fabric of Kampala. And for the young people involved, it was a platform to show not just their talent, but their leadership and voice.
Why It Still Matters
Every festival moment from the first drumbeat to the final dance is part of a larger journey toward unity. This continued presence at the Kampala City Festival proves that grassroots change thrives when it’s visible, celebrated, and supported.
